重庆快乐英语第4届英语口语大奖赛开始海选报名啦！

重庆快乐英语第4届英语口语大奖赛即日起开始报名，报名表格可自www.cqhappyenglish.org/20111029.html下载。

任何初中及以上中华人民共和国公民均可报名参加（222位重庆快乐英语七段除外）

根据报名的踊跃程度，我们将安排由两位英语国家外教主持的海选, 海选结果即20位决赛选手及五位后备选手名单将于决赛前一周在以上网页公布【所有25位选手自动获得免费参加重庆快乐英语十年大庆请帖】

英语口语水平无悬念可以通过海选的报名选手可以不必参加海选获得直通PASS（限五名）

决赛程序同前三届基本相同

5-7位英语国家老外JUDGES

采用雅思口语评分标准 （主要强调发音和流利，其次注重语法和用词，词汇量大小和谈话内容深浅不应影响评分，于是中学生可同研究生同台竞技）

20位选手现场抽签决定参赛次序

然后由一位重庆快乐英语七段示范比赛过程

1. 选手抽签决定对话JUDGE

2. 该JUDGE同选手对话五分钟 (其它JUDGES也可发问)

3. 所有JUDGES现场举牌亮分

4. 专人在黑板上登记分数,然后去掉最高最低分数计算平均分

冠军奖金 800元, 亚军奖金500元, 季军奖金300元, 前十名均获得奖牌一块 (奖牌样式请点击www.cqhappyenglish.org/70club.htm)

为保证大赛的质量,我们的原则是宁缺勿滥。如果海选结果不理想，有可能取消本次大赛，改以其它方式RECOGNIZE海选过程中发现的优秀选手 （所以请大家积极推荐高手参加。上届决赛选手中冠军董礼，亚军夏越及SISU秦璇都是海选前从未来过英语角的。）

Chongqing Happy English 4^th Spoken English Competition

Eligibility

Chongqing Happy English Level 7 Masters, foreign passport holders and primary school children are not eligible.

Pre-screening

20 contestants will be selected from the applicants pre-screened. 5 stand-by contestants will also be selected just in case some of the contestants cannot participate.

The application forms are to be distributed at Happy English Corners.

There will be pre-screening sessions where John Peng and two native English speakers will have 2-3 minute casual conversation with each applicant.

Up to five Direct Passes will be given to the applicants who impress the screening panel the most.

The 20 + 5 selected contestants will be notified 7 days before the final competition. The contestant list will also be posted at www.cqhappyenglish.org 

Competition procedure

No pre-prepared speeches, No pre-prepared list of questions. Instead, Q&A with judges only.

There will be five judges from US, Canada, UK, AUS and/or New Zealand. Each contestant will be assigned a judge randomly and the judge will ask the contestant whatever questions for about 5 minutes. Other judges may also ask questions.

The judges will then show their scores to the audience, but the highest and lowest scores will be ignored when calculating the average scores.

Scoring criteria

The IELTS Speaking test scoring criteria will be adopted.

Emphasis will be on pronunciation and fluency. Grammar and proper word usage are secondary.

There will not be so much emphasis on vocabulary and contents so that high school students can compete with graduate students on the same stage.

Prizes

RMB 800 for the Gold Medal winner, 500 for silver and 300 for bronze. All the three winners will be presented a plaque.

All 20 + 5 contestants will be invited to Chongqing Happy English Corners’ 10th anniversary Party in May 2012 (the judges will each get two invitations to the party)
